What We Do

Ballard Reuse is a used and salvaged building materials retail warehouse.

Our mission is to keep as much out of the landfill as possible while sharing creative reuse ideas and having fun. We have a full range of used building materials, DIY projects, as well as some rare finds.

Our Story

Ballard Reuse was created in 2014 by Pat Finn Coven and Joel Blaschke.

golden hour at ballard reuse

We had both been working (in this same location) at The RE Store for more than 12 years. When The RE Store decided to close their Ballard location, we couldn’t imagine doing anything else. Many late nights were spent developing a business plan, securing financing, negotiating for assets and inventory and convincing the landlord to have faith and give us a lease. Almost immediately, it became clear that we made the right decision. As we approach our 10th Anniversary next month (June 2024) we give thanks to all the wonderful employees and deeply supportive community who have gotten us to this point.

Ballard Reuse has a great partnership with Seattle Recreative.

We both work to keep good materials out of the landfill and inspire creative reuse.  By working together we can make an even bigger impact.

There are three benefits to this partnership:

1) We keep even more good stuff out of the landfill.

2) You can get a charitable donation receipt (for your taxes) for donated materials.

3) Seattle Recreative gets a percentage of our proceeds from donated materials.

They have a cool store in Greenwood full of art and craft supplies.   They also offer classes and have a neat drop-in arts space for kids.
